At this point, I could hardly be more enthusiastic about Kavrila. The Rituals trilogy is a tremendous accomplishment, and I feel like II is a bit of an outlier stylistically. Starting right at Lidless, this record is more atmospheric and - surprise! - even reluctant until suddenly punching you in the gut and forcefully eviscerating your abdominal cavity with a halfheartedly grinded butter knife. Punishing, engaging and definitely worth hearing. Stop pondering and throw your money at these guys.

If you know Kavrila you're aware of the fact that their music is as life-affirming as the prospect of attending a mass execution. Still, Mor hits different and cuts way deeper than all of the Rituals trilogy. Mor has singer Alex processing his mother's death and yes, this is exactly how it feels listening to this thing. Deeply uncomfortable and horrendous. To clarify: this really is a good album. But it's not one I see return myself to often because I can hardly bear it. Well done!
